Plaster Over Wood Siding

Before applying stucco over wood you will need to attach a layer of roofing felt to the surface followed by a sheet of wire mesh.
Plaster over wood siding. This ensures that condensation will not build behind the siding and cause decay in the siding faswall will be unaffected. Stucco is a building material that is used to provide a textured finish to walls ceilings and other surfaces. Applying stucco over your existing wood siding is a great way to cover up wood that is looking old and worn or simply to give your home a new look. I applied a thin coat to make sure of adhesion then after dry went back over it with a thicker texture coat.
Allow this base material to harden for one hour and scratch lightly with a plaster rake. Drywall mud comes in dry and premixed products with the premixed mud being more expensive but much easier to apply. Then apply a thin layer of stucco to the wire mesh surface as a base for the final coat. You can change the appearance of the stucco wall surface by covering it with a wall of siding.
Wipe surface with tact cloth and i used premixed plaster of paris from a local box store. Paint the paneling with the super adhering primer just as you would any wall. You can apply the mud by hand with a trowel as craftsmen once applied plaster to cover wood laths to form walls but the quickest way is to thin the mud and roll it on with a paint roller. Stucco adorns the facade or interior walls in many homes.
Let the primer dry thoroughly. Its a great material to work with because its versatile cheap and simple to apply. For wood siding applications it is recommended to install a rain screen directly on the wallforms and utilize furring strips to create an air gap between the back of the siding and the wall of the building.
